Video project “Volunteering with the Alliance” – 2013

In 2013 and with the support of the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe, the Alliance developed a promotional video to raise awareness internationally about the positive impact of Alliance workcamps and campaigns as powerful educational tools for young people and local communities in terms of participation, solidarity, inclusion and environmental sustainability. The final shooting team, selected through an open call, that travelled along Europe in the summer 2013 and realized the video, is the group of young film-makers Break the Couch. The road trip of the film-makers started on the 5th of August and finished on September 2013. You can follow their adventures, read their comments and see the pictures of the video making on the blog breakthecouch.com

The video has been released on January 2014, preceeded by an on-line campaign through facebook, that aimed to disseminate as much as possible the final result of this one-year long initiative. Eight short videos have been released during the Summer 2014 with extra shooting material that contains inspiring and useful messages for anyone interested in workcamps: young people, organisations, local communities and public authorities.

The 30th Alliance Anniversary CAMPaign – 2012

The CAMPaign was a 10 month long project that saw the participation of about 35 member and partner organisations celebrating the 30th anniversary since the establishment of the Alliance, together with groups of international volunteers that joined 47 voluntary projects organized in 21 countries. Apart from the voluntary work and intercultural activities, volunteers participating in a workcamp adhering to the CAMPaign, had the opportunity to join a workshop aimed at raise their awareness on:

  • international volunteering, it’s benefits and opportunities for active participation locally and worldwide within the network
  • Alliance network, it’s history and values
  • supporting the active citizenship within the participant’s own countries across Europe

The common action of the workcamps joining the CAMPaign, was the WISH TREE activity that was to be organised during each project. Volunteers from each workcamp had an opportunity to post their 30 wishes for the 30th Alliance Anniversary, wishes of peace and a better world.

The whole campaign came to a close after the outcomes were collected (pictures and quotes). A “wish tree” was created at the Alliance General Assembly 2012 in Mozet, Belgium, where the official Anniversary celebration took place for the 30th birthday of the network. The members brought the wishes prepared by the volunteers to enrich the Wishtree. A presentation was also created showing pictures and results from the campaign:

The map of the workcamps, the photos and the descriptions of the activities can be found on the blog created by the ERC for the campaign: allianceanniversary2012.blogspot.cz
