"Today is International Women’s Day. A day which provides a great opportunity for us to have conversation about gender equality and to listen to one another. Today is a great chance for us to honor and celebrate the achievements of women but also collectively to raise our voices to demand more from ourselves in the future. International Women’s Day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. It is not country, group or organisation specific.
Women represent half of the world population, so half of its potential. To build peace we need gender-balanced world. Everybody has a role to play, everywhere, at all times.
From grassroots activism to worldwide action, we are entering an exciting period where the world expects balance. We notice its absence and celebrate its presence. With thousands of projects around the world, we offer a huge number of different volunteering opportunities every year. We aim to make these experiences a space of gender equality and works towards an equal society with no gender gaps. In the end, the changes we make have an impact and contribute to much bigger changes in society. Collective action and shared responsibility for driving a gender-balanced world is key.
Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once explained "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.
The future is exciting. Let’s make International Women’s Day your day, everyday!"
