In 2014, CCIVS launched the networking initiative Raising Peace with the aim to promote peace and human rights, and to highlight the role that International Voluntary Service (IVS) plays in this field.
The Raising Peace programme builds on the three pillars “Empowerment” (capacity-building & training), “Action” (Raising Peace Camps & Peace Action Weeks), and “Advocacy” (Global Human Rights Week). The Alliance supports Raising Peace by promoting the programme and encouraging its members to join the activities and events organised throughout the year:

The Freedom of Movement Campaign evolved as one strand of the Raising Peace programme. It aims at advocating the freedom of movement of all people, irrespective of ethnicity, gender, social background etc.
In 2014, a common position paper on Freedom of Movement was drafted and validated by the four IVS networks CCIVS, Alliance, NVDA and SCI. Consecutively, a common blog page was created to share this initial joint positioning. The position paper was further elaborated in 2016.
During the Raising Peace Coordination Networking Meeting that will take place in Paris, 21-25 April 2018, the networks involved in Freedom of Movement intend to work further on and develop the campaign to make it more powerful and accessible for IVS organisations.
