The IVS movement has created a joint Declaration about Sustainability and Climate Change, in view of the upcoming Conference of Parties (CoP) in Paris on December 2015.
A great part of the world – political parties, civil society organizations, decision makers, local, national and international institutions, informal youth groups, enterprises, etc – is looking at the next Conference of the Parties about Climate Change as an opportunity to change direction towards a healthier, fairer and more sustainable development for everyone. Climate change is directly linked to deprivation of rights, impoverishment of territories, political conflicts and poverty.
The International Voluntary Service community decided to take position against climate change and to bring the powerful voices of thousands of volunteers to the institutional context of the CoP in Paris. The Alliance, together with CCIVS, NVDA and SCI are convinced that discussing and acting against climate change within IVS project helps in making change happen! For this purpose, we have developed a joint Declaration Against Climate Change.
Workcamp and IVS organisations are invited to give value to the IVS networks’ common declaration against climate change, by taking action and raising awareness about the issue.
With the Cook for Climate action we can involve ourselves, involve our volunteers, bring the urgent issue of climate change within the workcamps and bring the voices of the volunteers outside the workcamps.
Organisations that would like to support the common declaration, are invited to share their actions/projects/activities with regard to the COP 21 through this link. The actions will be included in the joint map developed by the networks.
